Leviton Manufacturing Company, Inc., is the largest privately held manufacturer of electrical wiring equipment in North America.[1] It produces electrical light sockets, receptacles (switches & outlets), dimmers and other lighting control systems, wire, power cables, power cords, wall and ceiling occupancy sensors, wall plates, datacom, and other electrical products. Leviton is most famous for its Decora wall switch, the flat low profile form factor which replaced the standard toggle switch in many homes and office.
In August 2012, Leviton acquired Home Automation Inc. and renamed it Leviton Security & Automation.
HAI (Home Automation Inc.) was formed in 1985 by founders Tom Pickral, Brian Yokum, and Jay McLellan. Products include solutions for lighting control, HVAC, access control, surveillance, security systems, audio entertainment, and multiple interfaces. HAI provides these products in an open platform. This accounts for differing technology and features found throughout the industry.
In 1988, HAI introduced the first integrated security and automation system to the market. Eight years later, they were responsible for developing the first Energy Star programmable communicating thermostat. HAI also developed the first Internet remote access and control software specifically for residential use in 2001. The 2008 calendar year saw HAI bring 30 new products to the home automation market—the most in its 24-year history
The company now has a worldwide network of distribution partners including thousands of dealers in over 80 countries is responsible for the global presence today.
